Take Profit Trader: Rules, Pricing & Payout Terms (Verified)

Independent profile. Every rule below is quoted from Take Profit Trader’s own knowledge base and pricing pages. Last verified: August 26, 2026.

Bottom line

Take Profit Trader is a US-friendly futures firm built around one promise: get paid fast, with as few payout hurdles as possible. Its standout features are real — no daily loss limit, no consistency rule once funded, and withdrawals “from day one and daily” with no minimum profitable days. The evaluation is a monthly subscription with no time limit, so you trade at your own pace. The catches are two: the funded stage is a simulated (PRO) account where you must first build a buffer equal to your drawdown before withdrawing at 80%, and the live 90/10 (PRO+) upgrade is invitation-only. Its most under-explained detail is that the drawdown type is different on each account tier — a trap if you assume it behaves the same throughout. For a futures trader who values withdrawal freedom over a live account on day one, it is one of the more trader-friendly payout structures on the market.

Three accounts, three sets of rules

Take Profit Trader has a single path with three stages, and they do not all behave the same way. Getting this right is most of understanding the firm.

The important line is the drawdown row. On the PRO account the trailing drawdown is calculated intraday — it follows your peak balance including unrealized gains, so a spike of open profit you later give back can breach you. On the Test and PRO+ accounts it is calculated end-of-day, only trailing your highest closing balance. Same firm, materially different risk mechanics depending on which stage you are in.

You must trade a minimum of 3 days (reduced from 5 for test accounts purchased from 17 August 2026; accounts bought earlier keep the 5-day minimum) (any day with at least one trade counts) and there is no time limit — the subscription simply renews monthly until you pass, cancel, or a renewal payment fails. Passing the Test triggers a one-time $130 PRO activation fee, which is routinely waived by whatever promo code is live. Note that promos rotate and conflict: on the day we checked, the homepage advertised a 40%-off-for-life code while a separate official landing page showed 50% off — so the best available discount depends on which page you land on. Check for the highest live code before you buy.

The consistency rule is unusually gentle: no single day may exceed 50% of your total net profit, but breaching it does not fail you — it simply raises your target to twice your net P/L, forcing you to keep trading rather than ending your run. And it applies to the Test only; once funded there is no consistency rule at all.

The buffer zone: how withdrawals actually work

This is the part traders most often misread. TPT markets “withdraw from day one and daily” — true, but on the PRO (simulated) account you must first climb above a buffer equal to your max drawdown before you can withdraw at the full 80%. Worked example, straight from their docs: on a $50,000 account the drawdown/buffer is $2,000, so you need your balance to reach $52,000 before you start withdrawing 80% of profits. Below that line, you can still access money only by terminating the account, and the split drops to 50% if you traded it 60 days or less. The live PRO+ account removes the buffer entirely — “make it and take it daily.”

Beyond the buffer, the payout terms are genuinely generous: no maximum withdrawal, no minimum profitable days, and no payout delays. Withdrawals over $250 are free; $250 or less carries a $50 fee. US traders are paid by automated Plaid transfer to a bank in their own name; international traders use PayPal or Wise.

Rules worth knowing before you buy

  • No overnight holding. This is futures — positions cannot carry to the next session; TPT auto-closes anything open at 4:55 PM ET.
  • News — allowed on Test, restricted when funded. On PRO/PRO+ you must be flat, with no open orders, one minute before/during/after prohibited events: FOMC, Non-Farm Payroll and CPI (plus product-specific ones like Crude Oil inventories for CL).
  • No bots or algos. Automated execution tools are not permitted on any account type.
  • No counter positions (hedging). You cannot hold opposite positions in the same or closely related products (ES/MES, NQ/MNQ) — across all tiers. Violation means liquidation plus profit forfeiture.
  • Copy trading — permitted for up to 5 of your own accounts, but coordinated/mirrored execution across different users is prohibited.
  • Commissions: $4.50 per round-trip per futures contract, $1.50 per round-trip on micros (both revised in August 2026 — micros tripled from $0.50, which matters most to high-frequency micro scalpers) (set by TPT on Test and PRO; PRO+ uses broker rates).

Track record in context

To its credit, Take Profit Trader publishes a pass rate — something most firms hide. Read it carefully, because it publishes two different figures: its FAQ states 36.22% of all Trading Tests were passed (Jan–Dec 2025), while the homepage cites 20.37% of registered users who passed a test (Jan–Aug 2023). Different periods and different denominators — tests-passed vs users-who-passed — so they are not directly comparable, and neither is a “your odds” number. Either way, roughly four in five evaluations do not convert, which is normal for the industry and worth pricing into the monthly subscription math before you start. What TPT genuinely leads on is the payout side: no daily loss limit, no funded consistency rule, and day-one/daily withdrawals are a real structural edge, not just marketing.

Who Take Profit Trader suits — and who should look elsewhere

Good fit: US futures traders who prize withdrawal freedom — fast, frequent, uncapped payouts with no daily loss limit or funded consistency rule — and who are comfortable trading a simulated funded account. Poor fit: traders who need a live account without waiting for an invitation; anyone who trades overnight or holds through major news; and traders who won’t watch the intraday drawdown mechanic on the PRO account, which is stricter than the end-of-day version they passed the Test under.

Is Take Profit Trader legit? What we verified — and what we didn’t

Take Profit Trader is a real, operating prop firm, and the terms it advertises matched its own official documentation when we last checked (14 August 2026). But “is Take Profit Trader legit” usually bundles two different questions: does the firm operate as advertised, and does it actually pay? The first is verifiable from primary sources, and we verify it on a fixed cadence. The second cannot be promised by any comparison site — including this one. Here is exactly where that line sits.

What we verified ourselves

  • Its current promotions matched its own sources on 14 August 2026: NOFEE40 (40% off for life plus the activation fee waived), and NOFEE40 also waives the $130 PRO activation fee for the life of that account.
  • We also caught a code that had gone stale: NEWYEAR50 no longer appears anywhere on its site or in any of its 86 help-center articles, so we retired it from this site the same day.
  • Its payout terms are documented: an 80/90% split, payouts available from day one, and no buffer-zone requirement on PRO+.
  • For US traders it documents automated payouts via Plaid to a US bank account in the trader’s own name — a specific, checkable mechanism rather than a vague promise.

What we have not verified

The gaps matter as much as the figures, so we list them:

  • We have not personally taken a payout from Take Profit Trader.
  • We could not confirm a Trustpilot rating from any official Take Profit Trader page, so we do not quote one. Where a firm cites a rating we cannot see at the source, we leave it out.
  • It documents no minimum payout amount. An absent threshold is not the same as a confirmed “no minimum”, so we treat it as undocumented rather than as a feature.

How to check Take Profit Trader’s reputation yourself

Our data tells you what Take Profit Trader promises. Trader reports tell you how those promises land in practice — so read both, and read the reports properly:

  • Sort by recent, not by rating. Prop-firm terms change fast; a glowing review of a rule set that no longer exists tells you nothing about today.
  • Read specific complaints, not the star average. A report naming an account size, a date and a payout amount carries far more information than a one-line rating — in either direction.
  • Weight payout-delay reports heaviest. Delays and denials at withdrawal time are the failure mode that actually costs traders money.
  • Discount both extremes. Prop firms run incentives for positive reviews, and affiliates of competing firms amplify negative ones. The specific, boring, mid-range reports are usually the honest ones.
  • Useful places to look: Trustpilot for volume, and trading communities on Reddit and Discord for detail. We deliberately do not aggregate those into a score of our own — that would just be a number we cannot verify.

Quick answers

Is Take Profit Trader legit?

Take Profit Trader is a real, operating prop firm: Take Profit Trader publishes a pass rate — something most firms do not — and documents a specific payout mechanism for US traders. Its promotions matched its own sources on 14 August 2026, including one stale code we removed from this site that day. We have not tested a payout ourselves, and our profile states plainly which figures we could not verify.

Does Take Profit Trader really pay?

Take Profit Trader documents an 80/90% split with payouts available from day one and no buffer-zone requirement on PRO+, and for US traders it documents automated payouts via Plaid to a bank account in their own name. Those published terms matched our checks on 14 August 2026. We have not tested a withdrawal ourselves.

Is Take Profit Trader available to traders in the USA?

Yes. Take Profit Trader accepts US traders and documents automated payouts through Plaid to a US bank account held in the trader’s own name.

Does Take Profit Trader accept US traders? Yes. It is a US-friendly futures firm and pays US traders by automated Plaid transfer to a bank account in their own name.

Is the Take Profit Trader funded account live or simulated? The PRO funded account is simulated, at an 80/20 split. A live 90/10 account (PRO+) exists but is invitation-only, granted at TPT’s sole discretion.

What is the buffer zone? On a PRO account you must reach a balance equal to your account size plus your max drawdown before withdrawing at 80% — e.g. $52,000 on a $50,000 account. The live PRO+ account has no buffer.

Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit or consistency rule? No daily loss limit on any account. The 50% consistency rule applies only to the Test and does not fail you — it raises your target instead. Funded accounts have no consistency rule.

How much does Take Profit Trader cost? The Test is a monthly subscription: $150 (25K), $170 (50K), $245 (75K), $330 (100K) and $360 (150K), plus a one-time $130 PRO activation fee that promo codes routinely waive. Discount codes of 40–50% off for life rotate frequently.
